The story of this building
After five changes of ownership, the house passed to Josef Anton Rechsteiner. He renamed it and opened the Gemsli tavern on January 31, 1843. On August 19, 1845 he received the historic innkeeping rights. At the same time, taverns in the Dr. Hildebrand house and the house later occupied by woodturner Keller were also called Gemsli or neues Gemsli. The Gemsli at Hauptgasse 21 closed in 1871. Konrad Bühler-Geiger bought the house in 1892 and opened a butcher's shop. A southern extension for the shop was added in 1908. His son, Konrad Bühler-Zimmermann, bought the house for 45,000 francs in 1921. Hans Koller-Klarer took over the butcher's shop in 1956 and acquired the whole house in 1967. Urs Koller-Gmünder ran the shop from 1993 to 2014. At the time of publication, Goba had taken over the house.
