The story of this building
In 1828, the then owner Dähler bought the “Kosslis” house (the lower part of “Hecht”) from K. A. Koster and combined it with the house in 1851
“Hecht”. It was sold 18 times by 1939. On April 11, 1936, master butcher Arnold Knechtle-Signer purchased the property for CHF 150,000. Three years later, his son Arnold Knechtle-Blattmann took it over for the same price. In the years 1930-1931 the “Hecht” underwent a thorough renovation. In 1942 the owner had a bowling alley built in the former stable, and in 1947 he opened the cinema on the ground floor.
When Arnold Knechtle was able to buy the attached “Schiffli”, he attached it to the hotel as a guest room house. In 1953 the house was extensively renovated inside. At the end of 2001, the daughters stopped operating the restaurant and from 2002 the “Hecht” was run by the Stephan Heeb family as a seminar hotel without a restaurant with 77 beds.
